Mparntwe Academy

Clontarf logoThe Mparntwe Academy (Clontarf) provides services across all year levels of Centralian Middle School.  The Academy has been established in partnership with the school and encourages young Indigenous men that attend the school to enrol in the program offered.

The Academy’s main role is to promote positive life skills and improve self-esteem.  AFL, amongst other activities, is used to achieve this end.

Through mentoring, Academy Members are able to share positive experiences which will help them better understand the positives of general education and empower them to make better life decisions going forward.

Academy participants must consistently endeavour to:

  • Attend school regularly;
  • Apply themselves to study appropriately;
  • Embrace the Academy’s requirements for behaviour and self-discipline.

Academy students can expect to:

  • Participate in camps and trips;
  • Participate in community events;
  • Have access to Academy staff during recess and lunch in the Academy ‘clubhouse’;
  • Train before school;
  • Have access to regular after school activities;
  • Have designated Clontarf time as part of their timetable;
  • Have access to support for any issues that arise that impact their ability to have success at school.
