Alice Springs Partnership for Success

The “Alice Springs Partnership for Success” program is aimed at improving the educational outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to a level comparable with that of the broader population.  The project aims to increase the number of indigenous children successfully completing year 12 schooling, with the expectation that these students will continue with higher education, apprenticeships/traineeships or direct employment.

Students targeted for the program are those in years 7-12 at all high schools in Alice Springs who have good attendance (a minimum of 80% at their school) and have shown academic potential and enthusiasm at school. Intensive mentoring and tutoring outside of school is provided via an Enrichment Centre based at Centralian Senior College.  The Enrichment Centre is attended by students after school for homework, tutoring, extension study activities, computer access, and recreational activities. Students have a commitment to attend a minimum of twice per week, and can attend up to a maximum of 4 days per week.  In addition, Cultural Awareness Training, Camps and Industry Visits are conducted in line with student interests and aspirations.

The “Alice Springs Partnership for Success” program is jointly sponsored by the Department of  Education & Training (DET), Centrecorp & the Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation.
