Over the break, Centralian Middle School ran a holiday program for local children. The program, funded by the Chief Minister’s Office, was an overwhelming success with children from the ages of 7-15 participating in a range of activities throughout the 6 weeks. On average, around 50 children attended the campus daily and fun was had by all. The most highly anticipated activities were indoor team games, held in the CMS gym and water sports (facilitated by the Alice Springs Aquatic Centre), students also enjoyed making jewellery and playing games such as ‘Red Faces’ and trivia.
Breakfast, lunch and snacks were provided throughout the days; with the children making their own lunches on a regular basis. Individual mini pizzas proved the favourite by far and were eagerly asked after on more than one occasion.
Program coordinator, Jordan Van der Schuit said that “All the kids had a great time, they were for the most part, well behaved and made the holiday program a success”.
